Dissimilarity of PSP 1000 / PSP 2000 / PSP 3000

PSP 1000: Released in March 2005, the first edition of the PSP. These are the most bulky PSP. It has been out of production for two years. Brand new sets are unavailable.

PSP 2000: Released in September 2007, the second edition has a less bulky body as compared to the first edition. Apart from the outlook, no much change has been made. It has been out of production for a year. Limited brand new sets left in the market.

PSP 3000: Released in October 2008, the third edition integrated with a microphone and an improved screen compared to the second edition. No other significant improvements apart from the mention two above. New sets are still available.

Hackable?

PSP 1000: Yes.
PSP 2000: Yes. Either PSPs manufactured before July 2008 [Motherboard revision TA-88V2 or older] or PSPs firmware set to version 5.03 or lower.
PSP 3000: Yes. PSPs firmware set to version 5.03 or lower.

Local and Export Difference

Local set meaning; PSPs are taken direct from agent. They come with a year official Sony warranty locally.
Export set meaning; Parallel imported PSPs. They don’t come with Sony Singapore warranty.

Downloading content online - If content is free, there will be no problem. If content need to be pay via credit card, you can only use the credit card of the region, for example, if you are trying to purchase from R2, you will need a Europe credit card to purchase.

PS3 slim (newer version) vs PS3 fat (older version)
All PS3 fat able to install Linux (an open source operating system). Older PS3 fat can even play original PS2 games. PS3 slim can do neither, as PS3 slim is cheaper (by about $100), thinner and saves more energy.

Warranty
PS3 has a year warranty covered by Sony Singapore. We now have a obligatory testing policy for all new consoles purchase. It best if time is given for us to explain all the aspects of the brand new console. We will undertake a detailed test and that you bring home a 100% working set. No exchanges after the test has been successfully completed as warranty claims will now be directed with the agent.

Essential Item
Controller: Needed if 2 player or more. Original Dual Shock 3 Controller or a Pega PS3 3-in-1 Wireless Keyboard Controller Remote to double up as a remote for movie playback and a keyboard for easier text entry can be consider.
HDMI: Only if you have a HDTV with HDMI input so that you can get resolution of up to 1080p. Compatible HDMI cable @ $10. Original Microsoft HDMI Cable @ $20 and original Sony HDMI cable @ $30. Highly recommend either the original Sony or original Microsoft version as they generate better quality images than compatible ones.
